Trade Inspection

The Trade Inspection is a specialised inspection authority for the protection of consumer interests and rights and the economic interests of the state, which in terms of content is supervised by the President UOKiK. In other respects, The Trade Inspection – 16 provincial IH inspectors – is supervised by voivodes.

The Trade Inspection controls:

• non-food articles and services, and obligations of undertakings,
• products in terms of meeting general safety requirements and assessing compliance with the requirements,
• fuels and solid fuels.

The Trade Inspection conducts scheduled and unscheduled controls – the latter resulting, for example, from complaints received from consumers. The Trade Inspection is also involved in consumer counselling, amicable resolution of consumer disputes, including running arbitration courts.
