Extension of the regional agreement to Austria
  • On 7 December, in Paris during the Global Forum on Competition, the President of UOKiK and the heads of the competition authorities from Central and Eastern Europe signed an annex to the Memorandum on regional cooperation concluded in April this year.
  • It concerns the expansion of the initiative to the Austrian Federal Competition Authority (BWB), which will thus join 10 national antitrust authorities from the Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Hungary and two EU candidate countries – Moldova and Ukraine.

The aim of the initiative is to strengthen cooperation for the development of antitrust in the region and to support Moldova and Ukraine in their aspirations for European Union membership.

In 2023, the works within the framework of the Memorandum were chaired by UOKiK, the following year this function will be assumed by the Romanian Competition Council.
